Styled Wedding Shoot in Brighton with Taylor Jackson

A styled wedding shoot in Brighton with THE Taylor Jackson I hear you say? Yep, it’s official, I think my career has peaked, does that mean I need to retire now?!

All jokes aside though this would never have been made possible if it wasn’t for the Thrive Photography Conference 23 hosted by Lisa Devlin from Photography Farm. I would never have had the opportunity to do this when I was employed, but now I am full-time self employed I can run head first into these amazing experiences.

This year Thrive 23 was held at the Mercure Hotel in Brighton and the first day we had talks by 6 incredible photographers, including my personal heroes Taylor Jackson and Rebecca Carpenter, as well as the amazing Sam Docker, Jodie Mitchell, Igor Demba and Lilly Red. The talks were inspiring and educational and a fantastic experience. Day two comprised of styled wedding photo shoot sessions in Brighton with each of the photographers, and I had the privilege to join Taylor on his.

Here’s a little behind the scenes video from the day, and a selection of my favourite images I took. The one of them dancing on the pier has to be my absolute favourite. A lot of photographers warn against using wide angle lenses for portraits as they are historically ‘unflattering’. But in my opinion, using a lens for something other than it’s intended purpose, forces you to be more creative, allows you to develop your problem solving, and usually results in some incredible images that you would never have got if you hadn’t pushed yourself out of your comfort zone.

A massive thank you to all the suppliers involved, I think we can all agree they did an amazing job bringing this look together!
