A Guide To Horsham Register Office!

Horsham Register Office is one of my favourite wedding venues in West Sussex and I have shot there many times, so I thought I would make a quick guide for any photographers or couples looking at going there!

Horsham register office is located at Park House on North Street in Horsham, and backs onto Horsham park. A very pretty grade II listed Georgian building on the outside and in! There are two ceremony rooms and gardens out the back which are well maintained and look beautiful throughout the entire year.

Inside the lobby has beautiful natural light as well as a cool teal couch, ideal for some great photos before the ceremony! There are two ceremony rooms; The Chairman’s Room and The Drawing Room.

The Drawing Room is the main ceremony room, which seats 30 people and has a lovely fireplace, chandelier and large windows. It’s the more modern of the two rooms. Photographers are permitted to move around if room is not at full capacity, though if it is full the photographer will stand in this corner in front of the couple. This position is the best for photos as the couple face the windows.

The Chairman’s Room is the smaller room which seats 8 people and is very traditionally decorated. It’s a beautiful room and perfect for small, intimate ceremonies. Instead of the usual chairs, guests are seated on the sofas and the couple stands in the middle opposite the window. The photographer cannot move around the room due to the size, so they will be positioned in the right corner, facing the couple, which again is the most optimal place for light.

The rooms are beautiful and bright with strong and vibrant colours, and whilst flash is allowed I have never had to use it as the natural light is perfect!

Once the ceremony is finished the couple and their guests exit out the back doors onto the garden. Usually the guests will exit first and form lines up the stairs so when the couple exit the photographer can get a great group shot of everyone together on the stairs. This is also a great place to have any family group shots too.

The gardens are stunning and well looked after all year round. I love doing couples photos here and they come out completely different every time! I start with shots of the couple walking down the path as this helps relax the couple and creates some beautiful candid photos.

Here are some of my favourite photos from the venue!
