Arthur’s One Month Newborn Photoshoot

So if you follow me on Instagram (see my profile here) you will already know my exciting news, but for those who don’t my beautiful son Arthur was born on 29th May this year. Of course I wanted to do a newborn photoshoot with him; what better practice than with your own baby! However I had a very rough birth and very difficult first week so I spent most of the second week recovering. Then when the third week came around it was so rare for him to allow me to put him down to sleep that I was too nervous to disturb him by doing a photoshoot. So it wasn’t until he was 4 weeks old that I actually managed to get it done. Of course by this point he was a lot bigger and way more alert than a typical newborn which made a lot of the classic newborn photography poses almost impossible. So I went for a more candid approach and let him do his own thing and I’m very happy with the results, especially considering this was my first time photographing a baby! I really enjoyed this shoot (even when he was being a bit of a pickle!) and I would love the opportunity to do more newborn photo shoots.

Here are some of my favourite photos from the session. I experimented with different lighting and I am really loving the darker, low-key lighting shots. You can see the full gallery here. A massive thank you as well to fellow photographer Nic who owns Nicola Edmonds Photography who assisted me on this shoot.
