Let's Compare Wedding Venues!
Looking at wedding venues is always difficult, especially when they are all so different, which makes it very hard to compare them. So I thought it might be helpful if I created a few tables comparing certain types of venues alongside your priorities. Using both my own experiences as a wedding photographer and researching more venues I’ve come up with a list of venues that I personally feel are worth a look at! Trawling the internet trying to find your venue can be a daunting prospect so hopefully this will take some of the hard work out for you! All of the venues below are listed on hitched.co.uk so I have included a photo and link for each one from their site for you to see. So take a look below at some of my favourite venues across Sussex and Surrey!
Barn Venues
Barn venues are very popular at the moment and there are so many to choose from, though they all offer something a bit different! These are some of my favourites I’ve come across:
· Fitzleroi Barn (Pulborough, West Sussex)
· Cissbury Barns (Findon, West Sussex)
· Great Fosters (Egham, Surrey)
· Bury Manor Barn (Arundel, West Sussex)
· The Red Barn (Lingfield, Surrey)
· Southend Barns (Chichester, West Sussex)
· Brookfield Barn (Horsham, West Sussex)
Stately Homes and Hotels
Stately homes and hotels are a great choice if your looking for a more ‘all inclusive’ experience as apposed to a more DIY approach. especially if accommodation is a big factor for you. Here are a few of my favourites in our local area:
· Goodwood House (Chichester, West Sussex)
· Cowdray House (Midhurst, West Sussex)
· Botleys Mansion (Chertsey, Surrey)
· Northbrook Park (Farnham, Surrey)
· Pembroke Lodge (Richmond, Surrey)
· Hartsfield Manor (Betchworth, Surrey)
· The Ravenswood (Sharpthorne, West Sussex)
Outside Venues
Many couples are opting to marry outside in beautiful garden spaces nowadays and it’s easy to see why! It is a wonderful way to tie the knot, just make sure to check whether the venue is licensed for civil ceremonies or you will have to sign the official paperwork in a registry office on another day. This does give you a bit more freedom if you opt for this though; see below at some of my favourites I have come across:
· Cowdray Walled Gardens (Midhurst, West Sussex)
· Pendrell Hall (slightly further in Staffordshire!)
· Ghyll Manor (Rusper, West Sussex)
· RHS Wisley Garden (Guildford, Surrey)
· Southdowns Manor (Petersfield, West Sussex)
· Long Furlong Barn (Worthing, West Sussex)
· Nymans Gardens (Handcross, West Sussex)
Festival Theme Venues
Similar to the outside venues above but these venues below offer an even more rural feel and a complete DIY experience. Most offer camping facilities too so you can make a weekend of it! There aren’t a huge amount of these venues in the local area but here are a few great ones I have found:
· Northlands Farm (Chichester, West Sussex)
· Hyde Estate (Handcross, West Sussex)
· High Billinghurst Farm (Dunsfold, Surrey)
· Great Betley Farmhouse (Henfield, West Sussex)
Quirky Venues
Maybe you’re after something a bit different? Then I would definitely check out these venues I’ve found, all of which have something a little bit more unique!
· British Airways i360 (Brighton, East Sussex)
· The Dome (Worthing, West Sussex)
· Llama Park (Forest Row, East Sussex)
· Ridge Farm (Dorking, Surrey)
· Denbies Vineyard (Dorking, Surrey)
· Epsom College (Epsom, Surrey)
Hopefully this has been helpful for you and taken some of the hard work out of finding your venue!
